Korean Style Seafood Hot Stew - Fresh seafood in soft tofu gravy

Delicious seafood sundubu(soft tofu stew) with excellent taste of live abalone is one of the famous food which is loved for a long time, especially in Gangwon-Do area. Korean style seafood sundubu(soft tofu hot pot) normally contains various seafood; mussles, ear shell, crab, shrimp, etc. with soft tofu and hot gravy in a large ttukbaegi(pot).  Ttukbaegi keep your stew warn until finish eating.  One of the famous seafood sundubu restaurant in Gangneong, Abalone Seafood Ttukbaegi, specially serves the food with a large live abalone on top. Surprisingly it's really alive - very fresh and even lively.  The food of the restaurant serves their food with gravy made with the secret health supplements filled with herbal ingredients. The soup itself is thick and delicious, you can feel the soft and fragrant abalone flesh as it is. ​​The gravy is a little bit spicy but not too much. Traditional Gangwon-do style Korean noodle made of buckwheat

Buckwheat noodle is real Korean style food, especially part of Gangwon-Do. There shall be no doubt if someone say it is Gangwon-Do local food. It is usually called 'Makgooksoo(막국수)' or 'Buckwheat Noodle(메밀국수)' It is cold noodle with or without gravy. They are usually provided in the big bowl, putting the buckwheat noodles with toppings. Toppings are chopped radish or cucumber, half cut egg, seaweed flacks, etc. Normally 2 types of noodles are served; one is with the sauce, the other is with gravy. Restaurants have their own receipe, even though the main noodle is made of same buckwheat. Here is one restaurant providing traditional way of cold noodles. They only serve bowl of noodles with toppings and give the gravy and sause seperate. Visitors can make their own noodle dishes keeping its own taste of buckwheat. Have you ever tried eating RAW FISH? Well, raw fish - hoe(sashimi) - is quite common to eat in Korea. People even prefer to enjoy Korean style raw fish, seeing the ocean over the window. Here is that special place by that; Restaurant 'ILWOL(Sun & Moon)' provides full course of seafood including various types of food. This is not one and only place in Korea, which can have the raw fish course by the ocean side, however, it is still good enough as this restaurant is being known as such 'hot place' for a long time. Not too surprise, raw fish is being served as small pieces of whole fish as above picture.  It is not the rule, but common to provide the raw fish dish. Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market, which is located in Sokcho-City, Gangwon-Do, Korea, is to experience real of Sokcho. This local market can be divided into three part; Abai-Sundae(North Korean style Korean sausage) Town, Dak-gangjeong(Korean style sweet and sour chicken) and food Road, and Fish Market. Basically they are all connected and available to go by straightly jumping into next alley, but still see the major stores are gathered together. The most famous part of the market is, of course, the food street(Dak-gangjeong road). Visitors can try small street food and buy various types of local food. If you stay in the accommodation with kitchen facilities, you can buy local fish to cook. If you have nothing to buy, it shall be still fun to look around the Gangwon-Do local food. Breakdown of the summer: Korean Style Cold Raw Fish Soup - Mulhoe

Mulhoe, consist of chopped raw fish in cold soup, is one of the most popular summer food in Korea. The name of Mulhoe means Mul(watery soup) and hoe(raw fish, usually chopped). What makes us attracted? Rich in fresh ingredients as well as in keeping chilled. There shall be a lot of Mulhoe restaurants and they all have different recipe.  Main topic shall be the same; fresh fish, some veges and seaweed, cold soup-some restaurants even put ice-. And restaurants make their own recipe with their own ingredients or special flavour; various types fish, chopped or sliced, different types of veges and seaweed, own recipe of cold soup even with some ices. Not all but some or many, rice or noodle (or both) are served together.  After eating some of the ball, add rice or noodle into the soup. It may deliver even more special taste.
