Yeongrang Lake and Upper Path, the best of feeling Sokcho-City surrounded by magnificent view of Seoraksan

To experience real beautiful view of Sokcho, it is recommended to visit Yeongrang Lake and upper path.
The lake runs into to the East Sea of Korea through waterway under the ground, and the lake is freshwater, which is from Jangcheoncheon, the small stream of fresh water from the mountain top.




Yeongrang lake itself is exalted historical place retrospecting Shilla dynasty, one of the country of the era of three states of Korean Peninsula.
The name of the lake 'Yeongrang' is originated from the name of Hwarang who visits this place for training.

Hwarang, also known as Hwarang Corps, and Flowering Knights,[1] were an elite warrior group of male youth in Silla, an ancient kingdom of the Korean Peninsula that lasted until the 10th century. There were educational institutions as well as social clubs where members gathered for all aspects of study, originally for arts and culture as well as religious teachings stemming mainly from Korean Buddhism. Yeongrang Lake is the reconciliation between the past and the future.
While the Yeongrang late has been preserved within its historical significance, Yeongrang lake 'upper path' is wonders of modern technologies.



Why it is <Upper Path>, not the 'bridge'?

The structure crosses in the middle of the lake is FLOATING on water. This floating structure is slightly moving upward and downward depending on the water level.

Crossing the lake through the Upper Path will bring the unforgettable memories with the beautiful view surrounded the lake. The path is also connected to the trekking course around the lake.




Believe or not, the cloudy, gray silhouette in the middle of picture is Seoraksan(Seorak Mountain), which is one of the most popular view of mountain.

Timing to visit and to take this photo was sadly bad and only allowed to have indistinct pictures, however, it always has a special view to see and feel the city in each time - sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy, whenever it shall show the own feeling. Dare to say, it is the attractive point of travel.
